Position Overview

Internship Learning Objectives:

  • Gain hands-on experience in professional video production and post-production workflows.
  • Learn how AI-powered tools can enhance video editing, audio processing, captioning, and content generation.
  • Explore automation techniques for media processing, tagging, and distribution.
  • Build experience integrating creative and technical skillsets in a mission-focused environment.
  • Contribute to real-world multimedia products used for training and communication.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in video production and post-production under the guidance of senior creative staff.
  • Explore and apply AI-assisted tools for video editing, such as automated captioning, scene detection, upscaling, and content tagging.
  • Support the development of workflows that integrate AI tools into media production pipelines.
  • Conduct research on emerging AI technologies for video, audio, and multimedia enhancement.
  • Assist in creating templates, automation scripts, or lightweight tools to improve editing efficiency.
  • Experiment with generative AI tools for storyboarding, script ideation, visual effects, or motion graphics concepts (as appropriate within project guidelines).
  • Document processes and provide recommendations for improving production efficiency using AI.
  • Execute on-site video production and post-production support for agency internal trainings, information programs, promotional products, conferences, annual events, and historical events.
  • Create and gather visual elements to produce compelling video productions from a script or concept.
  • Collaborate with DISA Visual Information and outside customers to ensure project completion within specified deadlines.
  • Conduct studio and field production, utilizing industry-standard non-linear video editing systems, including Adobe Premiere.
  • Perform advanced video editing using Adobe Premiere, adding music, dialogue, graphics, and effects to create visually engaging videos.
  • Utilize Adobe After Effects for creating dynamic motion graphics and visual effects in line with project requirements.
  • Conduct audio and music editing to enhance the overall quality of video productions.
  • Utilize digital video and file compression techniques for web and/or CD/DVD delivery.
  • Work proficiently with both Windows and Macintosh platforms.

Required Experience/Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Film Production, Digital Media, Communications, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
  • Basic proficiency with video editing tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro (coursework or personal projects acceptable).
  • Familiarity with Adobe After Effects or similar tools for motion graphics (introductory level acceptable).
  • Foundational understanding of video production principles (lighting, composition, audio).
  • Exposure (academic or personal) to AI-powered creative tools (e.g., automated editing, transcription, generative media tools).
  • Strong interest in combining creative media production with emerging AI technologies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and take direction in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Preferred Experience/Qualifications

  • Experience using AI tools for media production (e.g., automated captioning, voice synthesis, background removal, or video enhancement tools).
  • Familiarity with tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects, or AI assisted platforms like Runway or Descript.
  • Basic scripting or programming experience (e.g., Python) for automating media workflows.
  • Experience with transcription, captioning, or metadata tagging tools.
  • Portfolio that includes academic, personal, or experimental projects involving video and/or AI-generated content.
  • Interest in generative AI for visual storytelling, animation, or multimedia production.

Special Requirements/Security Clearance

  • Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance.
